Leclanché element

The manganese dioxide battery is also called a leclanché element. The positive electrode consists of manganese dioxide surrounded by an ammonium chloride solution. To prevent the battery from tipping over, the solution is coated with a swelling agent (e.g. the assembly is surrounded by a zinc jacket, the negative pole.
