The solving process

When a salt is dissolved, the crystal structure is broken. Water molecules attach to the ions, the ions are hydrated. The water molecules are attracted by electrostatic forces, whereby the molecules with the negatively polarized oxygen attach themselves to the positively charged sodium ions or with their positively polarized side to the negatively charged chloride ions.
